Don’t Breathe from 2016 made a decent impact in the world of horror and thriller movies; fans loved how the film presented a somewhat fresh look on a thriller, while using the themes that make eerie and tense films like this one work so well.

The movie followed Norman (Stephen Lang), a blind War veteran who lives alone in a rather desolate house. He appears frail and weak to anyone on the outside, including three young teenagers who have heard he has a decent pile of cash lying around.

The trio head into Norman’s home and think they will come away with the money and not a scratch on them; but the blind man isn’t as defenceless as they thought...

Don’t Breathe is a great example of a film that has a small cast and essentially only one location, and manages to show you new angles and create a brilliantly eerie atmosphere.

Don’t Breathe 2, directed by Rodo Sayagues, is set a few years after the initial home invasion. Norman seemingly now has a daughter to look after which, if you have seen the first movie, will seem more sinister than sweet; although it is unclear if she is actually related to him.

Norman is training the young girl to fend for herself, but it seems that she will have to put her training to use earlier than either of them thought, as Norman’s dark past comes creeping up on him.

A group of men force their way into Norman’s home, threatening to take the girl and wreck his life; but Norman won’t let that happen.

It seems that Norman isn’t the man the girl thinks he is, and will seemingly stop at nothing to prevent her from finding out who he really is...

The trailer seems to radiate the same creepy and tense atmosphere that made the 2016 movie so good; we see Norman look genuinely scared this time, which he didn’t seem to be in the previous feature.

The first movie showed him to be a cruel and violent man, but the inclusion of a young girl (who may be his daughter), has created a soft side as he now has someone to care for.

Norman holds nothing back in the trailer, as he uses immensely clever tricks to take out the men hunting him; such as lying still in water to feel the small waves made by footsteps, which allow him to sense when to fire his gun without missing.

We still see Norman in a somewhat vulnerable light, but we all know that he is capable of anything, especially when being threatened. The plot seems simple; defeat the guys who are warning to kill the veteran and the young girl; but we can make an educated guess that it won’t be that simple.

Don’t Breathe 2 will be in cinemas from August 13th, 2021!
