This past week has been filled with news; from Pierce Brosnan’s new movie role, to rumours of John Wick 4 beginning filming pretty soon, and The Suicide Squad’s new trailer - check it all out below!
New trailer for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is out
Since the let-down that was the original Suicide Squad movie in 2016, fans have been split in the sense that some wanted a new movie, and some simply wanted to give up on DC altogether.
However, with news coming out rather periodically about the new Suicide Squad movie, fans are getting really excited to see previous characters return, and some new ones entirely.
Returning cast members include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn (which we are ecstatic about), Jai Courtney’s humorous Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag.
As for new characters, there is a whole lot to be excited about; we will be seeing Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, and Steve Agee as the odd yet awesome King Shark.
The trailer is non-stop action, jokes and, since it’s a red band trailer, guts and gore. There is blood, violence, and King Shark legitimately says “nom nom” before eating someone.
This film is a must-see due to the obvious redemption for returning characters, and the roster of new and amazing characters we are yet to see – with a similar plot involving the group of baddies saving the world in order to not die themselves, it will no doubt be a phenomenal ride.
The movie is set to come out August 6th, 2021!
Black Adam film has cast Pierce Brosnan in heroic role
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has been a bit rocky in recent years, with the exception of a few decent movies and heroes. Now, Black Adam, played by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, is making progress in the way of casting.
Johnson being cast as the main character is no surprise, as his global stardom is set to be celebrated within this movie. However, now we are getting more news about the movie.
Other heroes and their respective actors set to make an appearance in Black Adam as a part of the Justice Society of America are: Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Hawkman (Aldis Hoge), and Dr. Fate.
Pierce Brosnan, perhaps most recognised for playing James Bond, will be playing Dr. Fate, aka Kent Nelson.
This will be Brosnan’s first superhero movie, and it will definitely be interesting to see him take up this heroic role!
There is no release date for the film as of yet, although filming is set to begin filming next month (April, 2021).
Flash film is set to begin filming soon
Since The Flash (Ezra Miller) made his DCEU debut in 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, there has been talk of the speedster (also known as Barry Allen) getting his own solo movie.
He has had other film roles in the DCEU, such as an appearance in Joss Whedon’s abomination Justice League, in 2017. However, his movie has had so many director changes over the years, meaning that moving forward with production or anything else became very difficult.
Now, we have director Andy Muschietti on board who will using a script written by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) to bring Barry Allen into his own solo element.
The film will focus on Flashpoint, which will lead to the exploration of the multiverse - and will star Batman. But not just the one Batman; we will be seeing Ben Affleck who of course, plays DC’s current caped crusader. We will also be seeing Michael Keaton back as Gotham’s dark hero – an extremely exciting factor of this movie.
With filming set to begin soon, we are expecting a November 2022 release date; this could of course change, but let’s hope it doesn’t!
John Wick 4 will reportedly begin filming in June 2021
Everyone’s favourite dog-loving killer is back! Keanu Reeves will once again be taking up the mantle of John Wick, as John Wick: Chapter 4 is supposedly starting the filming process in June 2021.
This franchise has become increasingly popular over the years, with Reeves becoming everyone’s favourite celeb – if he wasn’t already. Fans absolutely love him, and his portrayal of Wick is phenomenal.
The announcement of a fourth flick came pretty quickly after the third film came out, and while the fourth instalment might not be with us for a while, we can be sure that fans will cling to news of Wick’s return like moths to a flame.
The movie was supposed to come out this year (2021), but the unfortunate coronavirus pandemic saw the film get pushed back, potentially to sometime in 2022.
A new trailer for film Stowaway starring Anna Kendrick has been revealed
Netflix has recently revealed a new trailer for their space-themed upcoming flick Stowaway, starring Pitch Perfect actress Anna Kendrick.
The movie follows a small team of scientists as they head to Mars to attempt to cultivate life there. However, Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp), an engineer, is knocked out before he can get off the ship – becoming the stowaway.
Kendrick plays Zoe, the ship’s medical researcher. Panic shrouds every character as the vessel suddenly becomes capable of only holding three people on board…
This film is set to be an adrenaline fuelled adventure as Zoe and her ship-mates struggle to survive on their journey to the Red Planet, and must make the choice between continuing on their mission, or turning back to Earth for help.
The movie will be released exclusively on Netflix from April 22nd, 2021.
