Morgan Spurlock "jumped at the chance" to direct 'One Direction: This Is Us'.
The acclaimed documentary filmmaker is set to capture the chart topping 'Kiss You' hitmakers on the big screen in a new 3D film and reveals he was excited about the "scope" of the project.
Spurlock previously had to turn down directing Justin Bieber and Katy Perry's 3D flicks because of his busy schedule but was determined not to make the same mistake a third time.
He explained to Empire magazine: "I jumped at the chance. I got called a few years ago about the Justin Bieber film, then I got a call about the Katy Perry film last January but I was busy.
"To have the opportunity to make a film of this scope and scale about this bad, at this moment in time... Those things don't happen very often. And it's in line with some of the other stuff we've made, just not stuff I've been in."
The director followed the heartthrobs - including Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - on their recent world tour and had unprecedented access to their lives.
He said: "For me, it's about telling the most honest story. We shot a lot of meetings with them where they don't agree on things. The goal was to make a movie that at least had something to say."
