Michelle Williams is in negotiations to star in 'Rio'.
The 37-year-old actress is said to be in talks to feature in the motion picture based in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and directed by Luca Guadagnino from a script by Steven Knight.
According to Variety, the movie will star Jake Gyllenhaal as a financial reporter who heads to Rio to visit his rich pal, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, but he gets caught up in a plot to fake his friend's death.
Cumberbatch will produce the motion picture alongside Adam Ackland, and Studiocanal are to finance the film.
Williams looks set for a busy 2018 as in September it was reported she had signed up to appear in 'Spider-Man' spin-off movie 'Venom'.
Her role is not yet known but she is set to appear alongside Riz Ahmed and Tom Hardy, who will take on the titular role of the webslinger superhero's arch-nemesis.
Sony Pictures confirmed Hardy will take on the part in May.
They wrote on Twitter: "Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony's Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 - production starts this fall. (sic)"
It also looks like being a busy end of the year for Williams as she and Mark Wahlberg are said to be re-shooting parts of their movie 'All the Money in the World' after Kevin Spacey was replaced by Christopher Plummer.
Spacey was dropped from the role of J Paul Getty in the wake of sexual harassment and assault allegations made against him.
The movie is still scheduled to be released on December 22.
