Michael Shannon is set to reprise the role of Zod in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Zod went head to head with Superman when the franchise was rebooted with Man of Steel back in 2013 and it seems that his demise may not have been as permanent as first thought.
Shannon himself has revealed that he would back... and oddly, he is going to have flippers for hands this time around.
Speaking to Vulture, the actor said: "I was in my costume and I couldn't use my fingers, because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands," Shannon said. "So, I have these wax flippers on my fingers and I couldn't open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder] being like, 'Where's Shannon? Where the f**k is he?' And the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, 'Let me out of here!'"
Just how big a role Shannon is going to play in Dawn of Justice remains to be seen, but it is great to see him back in the franchise after a great performance in the first film.
Dawn of Justice will see Shannon reunite with Henry Cavill and director Zack Snyder, while Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Jesse Eisenberg are the big new additions as Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Lex Luthor.
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is already one of the most anticipated films of 2016 and the movie whipped up a storm when the trailer was previewed at Comic Con in San Diego earlier this summer. Dawn of Justice is set to another step closer to finally seeing a Justice League film hit the big screen.
Shannon is set to return to the big screen in September as he teams up with Andrew Garfield in drama 99 Homes, which sees Ramin Bahrani in the director's chair.
It has been a busy year for Shannon as he had already finished work on State Like Sleep, Elvis & Nixon, Freeheld, and The Night Before. He is currently filming Wolves, which sees him star alongside Carla Gugino and Chris Bauer.
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th march 2016.
