There could well be more Guardians of the Galaxy movies, according to actor Michael Rooker.

Rooker is set to take on the role of Yondu in the James Gunn directed film, which is just the latest project from Marvel.

And he has dropped a little hint that there could well be more films in the pipeline after the release of the first.

Speaking to SuperHeroHype the actor said: "When I first got the role of Yondu, Gunn was like, 'Don't read any of the comics!' but it's beautiful stuff," he told SuperHeroHype.

"Whenever you do a film of comic book characters and stuff you don't know how much you can show, you don't know how much is going to be brought out. Nowadays movies are done and they already have two or three others planned out.

"So stuff you do in this one, you ask 'Why aren't we doing this?' and they say, 'Well be patient!'"

Guardians of the Galaxy is part of Marvel's Phase Two of films; which includes Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Solider and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

A terrific cast has been assembled as Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Benicio Del Toro are all on board.

Guardians of the Galaxy is released 1st August 2014.
