Michael Fassbender has called working on Assassin's Creed as a 'huge learning experience.'

Fassbender is set to serve as the producer on the big screen adaptation of the popular computer game. While he has been an executive producer on Slow West, this is the first time he has been the producer on a film project.

The Oscar-nominated actor also takes on the central role of Callum Lynch as he reunites with filmmaker Justin Kurzel for their first project together since the success of Macbeth last year.

Speaking about his producing role on the film, Fassbender told the Wall Street Journal: "It was great. It was a huge learning experience. To be a producer on it as well was very educational. I think we've got something special. I think we've done something original in this genre."

Assassin's Creed has wrapped filming and we are going to have to wait until December to see the film finally hit the big screen.

I am looking forward to seeing Fassbender take on the central role of Callum and he has described the character as an outsider. He continued: "He is an outsider. He's been institutionalized from his early teens. He's a little bit of a lost soul of sorts. He starts to identify [his] lineage and where he comes from in a way."

Kurzel has assembled a fantastic cast list as Marion Cotillard, Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Irons, and Michael Kenneth Williams will all star alongside Fassbender.

2016 has already been a great year for Fassbender as he picked up his first Best Actor Oscar nomination last week, for his title role in biopic Steve Jobs. It is the second nomination of his career; picking up a Best Supporting Actor nod for his performance in 12 Years A Slave.

It is going to be a very busy year for the actor as we are going to be seeing him star in X-Men: Apocalypse, Trespass Against Us, and The Light Between Oceans.

Assassin's Creed is released 30th December.
