Michael Fassbender says he loved the complexity of the character Magneto.
Fassbender will return to the role of Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto next week, as X-Men: Days of Future Past hits the big screen.
Fassbender was on the red carpet in London's Leicester Square last night to promote the film. Speaking to Bang Showbiz, he said: "I just love the character.
"There is so much history in the character before I have arrived in his shoes.
"There's so much to play with, he's very complex. I love the relationship he has with Professor X."
Days of Future Past is the sequel to X-Men: First Class, and sees Fassbender reunite with James McAvoy: who returns to the role of Charles Xavier.
The movie will also sees Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart reprise the roles of Magneto and Professor X, for the first time since X-Men: The Last Stand.
2014 has already been a busy year for Fassbender, as he has received critical acclaim for his performance in 12 Years A Slave: it was a role that saw him nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
He has also been winning over critics and audiences in Frank - in which he plays the title character.
Slow West, an untitled Terrence Malick film and Macbeth are other movies we will be seeing Fassbender star in over the next twelve months.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May.
