Michael Fassbender reveals he was 'excited' to hear that Oscar Isaac was set to be joining the cast list of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Fassbender is set to reprise the role of Magneto in the upcoming X-Men film and Isaac is set to take on the title role of Apocalypse as he joined the comic book franchise for the first time.
The movie also marks the first time that Fassbender has worked with Isaac and he says that there was an 'organic' feel to working together on the project.
Speaking to Collider, Fassbender said: "I've been a fan for quite a while now, so I was really, really excited and pleased to hear he was coming aboard. It's just one of those things where you admire somebody and then you get together and it works out just the way you thought it would, that's great.
"We sort of hit it off immediately and were on the same page in terms of how we saw the characters and what we wanted to bring to it, so yeah we just sat down and had dinner immediately and started working on the scenes that we had together. It was just a very organic, easy working relationship from the beginning, which is great because we didn't get much of a sort of build-up time to get to know each other going into scenes, it was pretty straight away."
X-Men: Apocalypse is the first film in the series since the huge success of X-Men: Days of Future Past back in 2014 and sees Bryan Singer back in the director's chair.
This is the third X-Men film for Fassbender and it looks set to close the arc on Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult's characters.
Isaac is one of the big new additions to the cast list alongside Olivia Munn, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
This is the first time that we have seen Fassbender on the big screen since the success of Steve Jobs; which has seen him pick up his first Best Actor Oscar nomination.
2016 is a busy year for the actor as Fassbender has completed work on Trespass Against Us, The Light Between Oceans, and Assassin's Creed.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May.
