Matthew Tolmach says there is 'something special' about the Spider Man character.
Tolmach has served as producer on The Amazing Spider Man and The Amazing Spider Man, as the popular character has been brought back to the big screen.
Tolmach was on the red carpet in London last night, where he talked about what makes Spider Man a special character.
Speaking to Bang Showbiz on the red carpet, the producer said: "Yes. But Spider-Man is his own thing. I think, you know, to me he's the crown jewel of all these characters.
"He's us, you know, he's not ripped, he's not powerful. There's something special about him."
Tolmach has teamed up with Avi Arad and director Mark Webb to revitalise the Spider Man franchise - a third film in the franchise is already in the pipeline.
Andrew Garfield returns to the title role, while Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dan DeHaan and Sally Field are all also on the cast list.
The Amazing Spider Man 2 is released 16th April.
