Matt Damon says that they are about halfway through filming the latest Bourne movie.
Damon is set to return to the role of Jason Bourne next year as he reunites with filmmaker Paul Greengrass for the first time since Green Zone back in 2012.
The as yet untitled Bourne sequel is already one of the most anticipated films of 2016 and it will be the first time that we have seen Damon take on this role since The Bourne Ultimatum back in 2007 - which was the most successful film in the franchise to date.
And Damon told Variety that they are well on with filming. He said: "We're, like, probably about halfway through. We started in September but they're going dark for most of December and cutting basically the first two acts. And then we have the third act and then whatever we owe from the first two acts.
"I wasn't sure. I hoped I wasn't [finished] because I really liked the franchise and the character but I didn't see a way to go. But I wasn't giving up on the idea of doing it. [Director] Paul Greengrass and I kind of talked years ago about perhaps the way forward was just to let time pass and allow the world to change a little."
The movie sees Damon reunite with Julia Stiles, as she reprises the role of Nicky. The duo are joined on the cast list by Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel, and Riz Ahmed.
The Bourne film series has already grossed over $1.2 billion at the global box office and this latest instalment could well be the biggest and most successful yet.
2015 has been a quiet year for Damon as we have only seen him star in The Martian - a movie that has been a huge critical and commercial success. However, the actor has already finished work on The Great Wall, which sees the actor team up with filmmaker Yimou Zhang
The Bourne sequel is released 28th July 2016.
