Matt Damon will not be returning for Bourne 5, according to producer Frank Marshall.
Last week it was rumoured that Damon would be returning to the role of Jason Bourne in the upcoming film, which will be directed by Justin Lin.
However, Marshall says that there is no truth in these latest rumours.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said: "It's simply not true.Justin Lin is working with Andrew Baldwin on an Aaron Cross script/story that they pitched us a few months ago.
"I talk to Justin all the time and the script is not ready. It's a summer movie, and if we don't start pre-production now, we can't make next summer. Therefore, it's a wise decision to move to 2016."
Jeremy Renner looks set to reprise the role of Aaron Cross, in what would be his second film in the popular action franchise.
This will be the first time that Lin has been in the director's chair for a Bourne film, but he is no stranger to the blockbuster genre, with the Fast & Furious series under his belt.
Bourne 5 is set to hit the big screen July 15th 2016.
