Damon - who has also been nominated for his starring role in 'The Martian' at the Oscars which takes place today (28.02.16) in Hollywood - is contractually bound to a gruelling schedule of interviews after he shoots a movie, which many actors dread, but he thinks it can be fun talking to people all day and is definitely better than a trip to the dentist.
Asked about balancing celebrity life with his job, the star mused: "(It is) the realistic side of this business. You've got to go tell people about your movie. You have a contract that requires you do that. It's my job.
"So I don't know: maybe it is hard to find the balance. I'm still working on it. But it's not the worst thing in the world, people wanting to talk to you. It's not like having teeth pulled. Talking with you, it beats a root canal."
And Matt takes a philosophical when it comes to winning awards too.
Asked does he think his performance as a stranded astronaut in 'The Martian' was enough to bag him the coveted Best Actor award at the glitzy industry bash, he told Biography.com: "Look, when it comes down to it, I mean I work hard, I always do my best, I try to be not only nice, but good to the people I encounter or work with.
"But, what makes me happy is the work, when it's fun and challenging. The trophy is never the result. It's always the experience. That seems to be working out okay so far."
Also among the nominated actors for Best Actor at the Oscars are Michael Fassbender, for his role in 'Steve Jobs', Bryan Cranston for 'Trumbo', 'The Danish Girl' star Eddie Redmayne and Leonardo Di Caprio for 'The Revenant'.
