Matt Damon has confirmed that he is set to make a fourth Bourne film, and says that the movie will start filming next year.
Rumours had been swirling that both Damon and director Paul Greengrass were in talks to return to the franchise for the first time since The Bourne Ultimatum back in 2008.
Damon came out to clarify his role after Ben Affleck hinted that his pal was about to return to the title role in the franchise.
When asked by E! News about when they would film, Damon said: "Yes, next year. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out.
"[Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
Damon took on the role of Jason Bourne for the first time back in 2002, and went on to team up with Greengrass for The Bourne Supremacy and the Bourne Ultimatum. Damon has always said that he would only return to the franchise if Greengrass was on board.
We are also expecting Jeremy Renner to reprise the role of Aaron Cross in what would be a separate Bourne project. He took on the role of Cross in The Bourne Legacy, as the franchise went in a different direction after the departure of Damon.
Damon is set to make a cameo appearance in Interstellar, but we haven't seen him in a major role since The Monuments Men at the beginning of the year.
Damon has been linked The Martian, which is directed by Ridley Scott and also star Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, and Kristen Wiig.
