Martin Scorsese says it means a great deal to have picked up a Bafta nomination.

Scorsese is back in the director's chair for The Wolf of Wall Street, a movie that picked up four Bafta nods when the nominations were announced yesterday.

Scorsese was nominated for Best Director: the film was also nominated for Adapted Screenplay, Editing and Leading Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Scorsese said: "British cinema has always been very close to my heart, so it means a great deal to me to have been honoured with this nomination from BAFTA."

The Wolf of Wall Street marks the fifth time that Scorsese has worked with DiCaprio, and the first since Shutter Island.

And there could be more awards success coming the way of The Wolf of Wall Street as the film was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy and Best Actor - Musical/ Comedy.

As for Scorsese, he is already working on a Bill Clinton documentary.

The Wolf of Wall Street is released 17th January.
