Martin Freeman has revealed that he prayed on the set of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug when they were film the barrels in the river sequence.
Freeman is back as Bilbo Baggins this week as his journey with the dwarves continues. The barrels in the river is one of the most memorable movies in the book and was brought to life by director Peter Jackson.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph the actor said: "That's the week that I prayed. Every day before going on set, I would say a quick prayer.
"There was an element of danger with the barrels even though you are well looked after."
2013 has been a busy movie year for the actor with The World's End and lending his voice to animation film Saving Santa.
The Desolation of Smaug is the second in The Hobbit trilogy, and will be completed next year with There And Back Again.
Freeman will also be see back on the big screen this festive period as Sherlock returns.
Freeman will reprise the role of Dr. John Watson alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
