Ruffalo was in London earlier this week for the premiere of his new film Spotlight, for which he picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

The actor has been nominated alongside Stallone, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, and Mark Rylance for Creed, The Big Short, The Revenant, and Bridge of Spies.

And while Ruffalo is thriller with his Oscar nomination, he doesn't think he is going to win.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz on the red carpet, he said: "I feel great about the Oscar nominations. Anyone can win I guess but my favourite to go home with it is Sylvester Stallone."

Stallone has already picked up a best Supporting Actor gong at the Golden Globes and it would be the first Oscar win of his career.

This is the third Best Supporting Actor Oscar of Ruffalo's career and comes after nods for The Kids Are All Right and Foxcatcher in 2011 and 2015.

Ruffalo was on the red carpet with co-stars Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci and director Tom McCarthy to promote new film Spotlight. The movie follows the journalists of the Boston Globe who uncovered a child molestation scandal and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese.

The movie is based on a true story and sees Ruffalo star alongside Keaton, Tucci, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, and John Slattery.

McCarthy has brought us movies such as The Visitor and Win Win during his career and is his first film since The Cobbler back in 2014. As well as being in the director's chair, McCarthy has also teamed up with Josh Singer to pen the screenplay.

Spotlight is one of the most acclaimed films of the year and picked up six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Ruffalo, and Best Supporting Actress for McAdams.

Spotlight is released 29th January.
