Mark Ruffalo says a solo Hulk movie is not looking 'particularly promising' at the moment.
Ever since Ruffalo took over the role of Bruce Banner in Avengers Assemble in 2012, fans have been calling for the Oscar-nominated to lead his own solo film.
However, Marvel currently doesn't own the production rights for any Hulk standalone film - they belong to Universal. And while Ruffalo admits that Marvel is 'working it' a solo movie won't be happening anytime soon.
Speaking to Yahoo! Ruffalo said: "I think they've been working on it. Marvel and Universal famously don't get along very well, and so that's working against us, definitely. But I know for a fact that everyone is holding out hope that one day we can do it.
"But the nature of the relationship right now, it's a little prohibitive. And I hope that changes; that changes with regimes, it changes over the course of time. But right now, it doesn't look particularly promising."
Ruffalo reprised the role of Bruce banner earlier this year in Avengers: Age of Ultron - which went on to gross over $1 billion at the global box office and is one of the most successful films of 2015.
We are also going to see Ruffalo and the Hulk step into the Thor franchise in 2017 as Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit the big screen. It will be the first time that we have seen this character outside the Avengers franchise.
Taika Waititi is set to take up the director's chair and Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are back as Thor and Loki. Cate Blanchett has also been linked to a role in the new film.
Thor: Ragnarok is released 27th October 2017.
