Mark Ruffalo says his Begin Again co-stars Adam Levine and CeeLo Green didn't need any acting advice.
Green has worked in film and television in the past, while Levine was making his big screen debut with the film.
And while Green and Levine may not have been as experienced as Ruffalo & Keira Knightley, it seems that film work comes naturally to them.
Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "No, they didn't need any advice, they did pretty darn good on their own.
"Adam - it's his acting debut and I have to say he's a heck of a lot better than I was in my first film.
"And CeeLo also - they're naturals. I don't know if it's from being on stage in giant auditoriums or what, but they're both incredibly gifted actors."
Levine takes on the role of musician ex-boyfriend of Knightley in the film, while Green is on board as a music producer.
Ruffalo stars as a down on his luck producer who stumbles across untapped talent Knightly. Together they make an album, recording in different places in New York.
Begin Again is directed by John Carney, and marks the first time that Ruffalo has worked with the filmmaker.
Ruffalo is currently filming Avengers: Age of Ultron, and will star in Foxcatcher later this year.
Begin Again is released 11th July.
