Mark Romanek has been linked to new movie Boston Strangler.

Romanek is believed to be in talks to direct the new thriller according to Variety.

The movie will based on the hunt for a murderer who killed thirteen women during the sixties.

Chuck Maclean is on board to pen the screenplay, while Casey Affleck is set to star in the film.

Affleck will take on the role of a detective on the squad that hunted for the murderer.

The movie follows an ambitious detective determined to risk everything to bring down the killer, while battling a political cover-up by corrupt politicians and lawyers.

Romanek has moved between TV and cinema work in recent years - his last big screen outing came in 2011 with the adaptation of Never Let Me Go.

Romanek has also been linked to the director's chair of The Lost Symbol, the latest Dan Brown book to be adapted for the big screen.
