Bridget Jones' life is set to be turned upside down in the third movie as Mark Darcy is set to be killed off.
A few pages of Helen Fielding's novel Mad About The Boy were published in the Sunday Times revealing that Darcy had died five years earlier.
The segment also revealed that the couple had had two children together - Mabel and Billy.
Fans took to Twitter to show that they were not happy with this latest development.
One wrote, "Mark Darcy is dead. Bridget Jones is a widow. This is all too much for a lazy Sunday morning", while another incredulous reader fumed, "What the hell is helen fielding playing at in the next Bridget Jones book!? (sic)"
There has been talk of a third Bridge Jones movie all year - although nothing has yet been confirmed.
It is also not known if this possible third movie will follow the plot of the new book.
Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have starred in the first two movies, but it is believed that no one has yet signed up for this third film project.
