Marc Webb will be directing The Amazing Spider Man 3, it has been confirmed.
Webb brought the Spider Man franchise back to the big screen in 2012 when he teamed up with Andrew Garfield for The Amazing Spider Man.
The pair will be back later this year as the sequel is set to be one of the movie successful blockbuster films of the year.
We have known for some time that a third film in the franchise was already in the pipeline, but there was no news as to who would be in the director's chair.
However, it will come as no surprise to discover that Webb will be remaining with the franchise.
And the Spider Man universe is set to grown even further with The Sinister Six and Venom also set for the big screen.
Variety quotes Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal as saying: "We are expanding the Spider-Man universe into The Sinister Six and Venom, so that we have Spider-Man movies every year."
This is the first time that Sony have really expanded away from the central Spider Man franchise, and I am looking forward to see the kind of movies that they will develop.
The Amazing Spider Man is released 18th April.
