Manish Dayal will star opposite Dame Helen Mirren in 'The Hundred-Foot Journey'.
The up-and-coming actor - who is best known for playing terminally ill teenager Raj Kher in TV drama '90210' - has landed a leading role alongside the Oscar-winning actress in DreamWorks' adaptation of the best-selling novel by Richard C. Morais.
The culinary comedy-drama tells the story of world class chef Madame Mallory (Mirren) who forms an unlikely friendship with the youngest member of a family who open an Indian restaurant across the street from her Michelin-starred French eatery.
Dayal will play 22-year-old Hassan Hajj, who becomes pals with the cranky Madame Mallory and is eventually taken under her wing and transformed into a culinary expert.
The film will be directed by Lasse Hallstrom, who is best known for helming romantic dramas 'Safe Heaven' - starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough - and 'Dear John', which starred Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.
Mirren can currently be heard in Disney-Pixar's 'Monsters, Inc.' prequel 'Monsters University', in which she voices the intimidating Dean Hardscrabble.
She will next be seen reprising her role as gun-wielding pensioner Victoria in 'Red 2', a follow-up to 2010's action-comedy 'Red'.
'The Hundred-Foot Journey' is expected to begin filming in September for release in August 2014.
