While this year (2022) looks great for cinema, with the likes of Thor: Love and Thunder releasing soon, as well as movies such as Top Gun: Maverick on their way, it may be time to take a brief look into next year (2023).
M. Night Shyamalan announced only yesterday (April 19th, 2022) that his forthcoming feature, Knock at the Cabin, has begun filming.
The director celebrated the start of the movie’s shoot with a picture on Twitter, which was met with mainly positive comments as fans and moviegoers stated their excitement at the project.
Shyamalan is known for his unique and mind-bending films, such as The Sixth Sense (1999) Split (2016), and more recently, Old (2021).
His films have become best-known for containing a huge, game-changing twist at some point within the story that always alters the trajectory of the feature itself. He knows how to direct a psychological thriller, that’s for sure.
Shyamalan announced, not too long ago, that his 15th movie would be titled Knock at the Cabin, and aside from a few cast members, little else is known about the film itself.
The current cast for Knock at the Cabin includes Rupert Grint, Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Nikkii Amuka-Bird, Ben Aldridge, and William Ragsdale.
As with most of Shyamalan’s features, the narrative is seemingly being kept under lock and key, although it seems to have a hint of horror surrounding it. It’s anyone’s guess as to what the film is actually about, but hopefully more details will reveal themselves soon.
The post from the director’s Twitter account shows that the cast and crew are starting things off with the film’s 28th scene, and take one is about to commence.
The clapper Shyamalan is holding showcases the movie’s title above what looks like either a cloud of mist, or perhaps some scrawny, grey trees, giving the feature a somewhat ominous feel already.
Despite Shyamalan’s works not always being the most popular releases at times, he has given us some truly incredible tales, such as 2016’s Split staring James McAvoy, which was a chilling psychological thriller that seemed to blow everyone away.
In spite of there being no trailer, poster or first look images as of yet, there is a good chance that Knock at the Cabin will be a horror-type feature, and given Shyamalan’s history of movies with amazing hidden twists, the film already seems like one to keep an eye on.
Knock at the Cabin is set to release in cinemas on February 23rd, 2022.
