Lupita Nyong'o has revealed that she found working on 12 Years A Slave 'terrifying'.

Nyong'o is one of the most talked about new stars of the last few months, as she made her feature film debut with the Steve McQueen directed film.

12 Years A Slave saw her take on the role of Patsey, a plantation worker who suffers physical and sexual abuse at the hands of the man who 'owns' her.

Speaking to The Sun, the actress said: "It was terrifying to be thrown into the middle with such amazing and seasoned artists."

And while it may have been a tough experience for the actress, she says that she enjoyed working with the terrific actors that McQueen had assembled.

It was incredible to be able to work with actors that I respect and trust.

"Acting is always about playing off other people. So to have such incredible actors to work with was ... well I'm still getting goosebumps."

Nyong'o starred alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender; all three of them have picked up Oscar nominations for their work.

Nyong'o, Ejiofor and Fassbender are also in the mix for Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories at the Baftas this weekend.
