Luke Evans has described tackling The Crow an ‘immense amount of responsibility’.

Evans will be taking on the role of Eric Draven in the remake of The Crow; F. Javier Gutiérrez is in the director’s chair this time around.

And while we may recognise the story and the characters, Evans says that they will be delivering something new with this latest film.

Speaking to Total Film the actor said: “It’s am immense amount of responsibility for everyone involved. We’re using the original source material, which means that the story we tell will be something different.

“It’s an incredibly powerful, heart-wrenching story about a man who loses everything. Those kinds of stories rarely come up.

“We have such a passionate director in Javier and James O’Barr, the original creator of The Crow, has endorsed myself and the production who his love, effort and energy. We’re not doing it with any disrespect to what Brandon did.”

No release date has yet been given for The Crow but filming is expected to get underway at some point this year.

Evans was back on the big screen in December as we were introduced to the character of Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - a role that he will reprise in There And Back Again.

The actor has also just completed work on Dracula Untold, in which he will take on the role of Vlad Tepes.
