Luke Evans has called the character of Bard The Bowman a ‘bit of a rogue’.
Evans is one of the new faces on the cast list of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, as we are introduced to the character of Bard The Bowman for the first time.
Speaking to Empire the actor said: “He’s a bit of a rogue, a Robin Hood type, living in a controlled state. His only agenda is to keep his family safe.”
Evans is just one of a string of British actors on the cast list of The Desolation of Smaug as he stars alongside Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Peter Jackson is back in the director’s chair for the film in what is the second instalment in his The Hobbit trilogy - the first film grossed over $1 billion at the global box office when it was released at the end of last year.
Evans has enjoyed box office success this year as Fast & Furious 6 went on to become one of the biggest grossing movies of the year so far.
The actor is currently filming new film Dracula Untold, as he takes on the role of Vlad Tepes in the Gary Shore directed film. Dominic Cooper, Samantha Barks and Charlie Cox are on the cast list alongside him.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
