Lindsay Lohan's comeback movie 'The Canyons' will be screen at the Venice Film Festival.
The erotic thriller will stage an international premiere at the spectacle - which runs from August 28 to September 7 - after being rejected by several other movie festivals, reportedly the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW, due to "quality issues", which are said to stem from the film's $250,000 budget.
But the project - which has been written by 'American Psycho' novelist Bret Easton Ellis and helmed by 'American Gigolo' director Paul Schrader - will play to audiences at Venice while Schrader serves on the jury.
The surprise decision appears to be a positive step for Lindsay, who will complete a court ordered 90-day stint in rehab in August.
The 'Mean Girls' star appears as actress Tara in the motion picture alongside porn star James Deen, who portrays her boyfriend, a young film producer called Christian.
But Christian's life takes a turn for the worst when he becomes aware of an affair Tara had with an actor from her past.
