Lily James has revealed that she created a shire to Cinderella as she was preparing for the role.
James is set to take on the role of Cinderella as she teams up with director Kenneth Branagh for the first time. This is the latest Disney movie to be given a live action makeover and will be the biggest film role of James' career to date.
And James reveals that she worked closely with Branagh to create a backstory for the iconic character, resulting in her creating a shire of ideas for Cinderella.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, the actress said: "Ken wanted a backstory so he talked to me about stuff like, 'What does she have for breakfast? Does she sleep with the blinds open or closed?
"My wall at home was covered in pictures and quotes that made me think of her, so I woke up in the morning and saw her. I'd get really embarrassed when friends came round and saw my shrine to Cinderella."
James is no stranger to the big screen, with Fast Girls and Wrath of the Titans under her belt, but she is best known for her role of Lady Rose MacClare in Downton Abbey.
However, all that is about to change as she teams up wit Helen Bonham Carter, Richard Madden, and Oscar winner Cate Blanchett in the new film. The movie has already topped the U.S. box office - grossing over $70 million in its opening weekend.
As for James, she has already completed work on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and an untitled John Wells movie. She is currently working on a TV adaptation of War and Peace.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is set to hit the big screen this year and is based on the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, which is horror take on Pride and Prejudice. James is set to play Elizabeth Bennet in the movie.
Cinderella is released 27th March.
