Liam Neeson has revealed that he turned down the role of James Bond.
Neeson says that he was 'heavily courted' to take over the role of 007, but it was his late wife Natasha Richardson who told him to turn it down.
The couple were engaged to be married at the time, and she threatened not to marry him if he agreed to star in the franchise.
Speaking to Hull Daily Mail, the actor said: "I was heavily courted, let's put it that way, and I'm sure some other actors were too.
"It was about 18 or 19 years ago and my wife-to-be said, 'If you play James Bond we're not getting married'. And I had to take that on board because I did want to marry her."
Neeson has recently topped the U.S. with his latest film Non Stop as he continues to show that he is a great action hero.
Non-Stop follows on from roles in Taken, Taken 2 and Unknown: all of which have performed well at the box office.
As for Neeson, we are going to be seeing him back on the big screen later this year with A Million Ways To Die In The West - the latest movie from actor/director Seth MacFarlane.
Neeson has also completed work on A Walk Among The Tombstones and Run All Night. He is currently working on The Prophet.
