Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed that he would like to win an Oscar for his role as J. Edgar but is just grateful that people are talking about the movie as an Oscar contender.
DiCaprio is back on the big screen this week in the Clint Eastwood directed biography of J. Edgar Hoover.
The actor has already picked up a Golden Globe award for his performance and may also be nominated for an Oscar next week.
Speaking to The Mirror the actor said: "I don't think anyone would say that they wouldn't want one. I think they would be lying.
"I have learned from my experiences in this industry that there is absolutely no way to control people's opinions on your performance in your movie.
"You go out there, promote your film and hope people like the work you did. But they're going to respond the way they're going to respond when they're in a room with that ballot.
"I'm thankful people are talking about it in that capacity, but ultimately I truly have no control over it."
DiCaprio has also completed work on The Great Gatsby as he takes on the role of Jay Gatsby in the adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
J. Edgar is released 20th January
