Legend has toppled Straight Outta Compton from the top of the UK box office to take the number one spot.
Legend marks the return of tom hardy to the big screen as he plays both Ronnie and Reggie Kray in the brand new gangster film, which is directed by Brian Helgeland.
The movie took £5.1 million in its opening weekend, the biggest ever for Hardy in a lead role. It is also the biggest ever opening weekend for a British made movie with an 18-rating.
Legend comfortably saw off the challenge from The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials - the second film in The Maze Runner series - as it opened at number two with £1.7 million.
It was all about the new entry inside the top three this week as The Visit rounded off the trio of new film. The horror film marks the return of M. Night Shyamalan to the director's chair for his first film since After Earth.
Straight Outta Compton's reign at the top of the UK box office is over as the biopic slipped three places from one to number four. There was also a three place for Inside Out - falling from two to five - as the Pixar film rounded out the top five.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation fell out of the top five for the first time as the Tom Cruise led film slipped two places from four to six. Pixels was down just one this week at number seven.
No Escape was this week's biggest faller as the film, which sees Owen Wilson team up with Pierce Brosnan, fell five spots from three to number eight.
The Empire Strikes Back was back in the top ten at number nine as it played as part of the Secret Cinema series. Irrational Man - which is the latest film from director Woody Allen - was the fourth and final new entry as it opened at number ten. Allen has enjoyed a long and illustrious career and Irrational Man is his fiftieth film.
