Lee Daniels says he scared of taking on Hollywood movies as he doesn't want to be fired.
Daniels has made a name for himself in recent years with projects such as Precious, The Paperboy and The Butler - all of which are independent projects.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter the director said: "It's not like I haven't been offered jobs in Hollywood.
"I've been offered jobs in Hollywood, but sometimes I get scared because I don't want to ever be the one that's fired. How horrible would that be? 'Lee Daniels Fired!'
"I mean, I don't want to get fired. And I'm very specific with what it is that I'm trying to say."
The Butler was one of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2013, as Daniels told the story of a butler who served a series of different Presidents.
The film saw Daniels bring together an all star cast that included Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Alan Rickman, James Marsden and Robin Williams.
Daniel is set to star work on an untitled TV project.
