Everyone has been raving about Lily Tomlin's central performance in Grandma ever since the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year... now UK audiences can see what all the fuss is about as the film is released this week.
Grandma sees Tomlin take on her first leading role in nearly thirty years and she is hotly tipped to be in the Best Actress Oscar race when the nominations are announced next week. She has already picked up a Golden Globe nod for her performance.
Grandma is one of the movies that you cannot miss this weekend and here are some great new clips to whet your appetite:
Grandma marks the return of Paul Weitz to the director's chair for the first time since Admission - a movie that saw him work with Tomlin. As well as being in the director's chair, Weitz has also penned the film's screenplay.
Tomlin takes on the central role of Elle Reid in the film and is joined on the cast list by Julia Garner, Marcia Gay Harden, Judy Greer, Laverne Cox, and Nat Wolff.
Elle Reid (Tomlin) has just gotten through breaking up with her girlfriend when her granddaughter Sage (Garner) unexpectedly shows up needing 600 dollars before sundown.
Temporarily broke, Grandma Elle and Sage spend the day trying to get their hands on the cash as their unannounced visits to old friends and flames end up rattling skeletons and digging up secrets.
Grandma is out now.
