Last Days in the Desert is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and will see Rodrigo García back in the director's chair.
This is the first big screen directorial outing for Garcia since Albert Nobbs, and he has also penned the screenplay for the film.
Last Days in the Desert sees Ewan McGregor play Jesus and the Devil in an imagined chapter from his forty days of fasting and praying in the desert.
On his way out of the wilderness, Jesus struggles with the Devil over the fate of a family in crisis, setting for himself a dramatic test.
McGregor is set to be the heart and soul of the movie, while Ciaran Hinds, Ayelet Zurer, and Tye Sheridan are all on the cast list.
It has been a busy filming year for McGregor, as he has also completed work on Jane Got a Gun, Miles Ahead, Mortdecai, and Our Kind of Traitor, which are all due out in 2015.
No UK release date for Last Days of the Desert has yet been announced.
