Kyle Chandler has joined the cast of 'Godzilla: King Of Monsters'.
The 51-year-old actor has reportedly accepted a deal to star as a scientist in the upcoming monster movie sequel following the recent signing of Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown - who will portray his daughter - according to Empire magazine.
Chandler - who was most recently seen in 'Manchester by the Sea' alongside Casey Affleck - has reportedly been hot property over the past few months and was dished out numerous offers to take part in a series of movies, but decided to go with 'Godzilla 2' after a seven-figure deal he couldn't resist was slapped down by film executives.
The plot details are being kept under lock and key for now as it's not slated for release until 2019, but people involved in the movie are slowly coming out of the woodwork.
It looks like things are finally picking up for the sequel as it was thrown into chaos when Gareth Edwards announced he would no longer be doing the follow-up to his 2014 reboot following an amicable split with Warner Bros. and Legendary.
Bosses went on a mad hunt to find Edwards' replacement and, although they weren't panicking due to the fact the release date shifted to March 22, 2019, they settled on Michael Dougherty, who will direct from a script by Dougherty and Zach Shields.
The 2014 reboot, which was the 30th 'Godzilla' film to be made, saw Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in starring roles.
A 'Godzilla vs King Kong' movie is also being released on May 29, 2020 but little is known about the flick at present.
