Kurt Russell has been linked to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 for some time... this weekend at Comic-Con his role has finally been revealed!!!
There has been a lot of talk about a father/son story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, and Russell will play Peter Quill's father Ego.
A trailer was shown at Comic-Con - which is yet to be released - and we got a first look at Russell who reveals who he is to Peter. Saying "I figured my rugged good looks would make that obvious. My name's Ego and I'm your dad, Peter."
Marvel projects have always featured heavily at Comic-Con in recent years and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 was one of the most anticipated panels.
As well as confirming that Russell was on board as Ego, director James Gunn also revealed that Elizabeth Debicki will play Ayesha while continuing to tease Sylvester Stallone's involvement.
The movie sees James Gunn in the director's chair for the first time since the success of the Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014. As well as being in the director's chair, he has also penned the film's screenplay.
There are plenty of familiar faces on the cast list as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, and Karen Gillan are all set to reprise their roles as Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Drax, Yondu, and Nebula.
At the panel, Gunn also unveiled the new logo for the upcoming film:
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be released three years after the success of the first film and will be the first of three Marvel films to be released next year - Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok are also on the horizon.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is released 28th April 2017.
