Kristen Wiig has revealed that she would love to tackle more dramatic roles.
Wiig is best known for her comedy work over the last few years, but the actress wants to expand her horizons with a range of different projects.
And it is not just in front of the camera that she is interested in exploring, as she admits that directing would also be something that interests her.
Speaking to Elle, the actress said: "You have to have some sort of context for a person to register in your brain, and I was introduced to the world as a cast member of SNL [Saturday Night Live].
"But I've always wanted to do dramatic stuff, to write and direct, do a lot of different things.
"Comedy is where my heart lies. But there's also something really satisfying about being able to step away with a small crew, become a character and get to know her for a few months at a time."
Wiig is currently lending her voice to animation movie How To Train Your Dragon 2 - which is enjoying huge box office success. The movie sees her reprise her role of Ruffnut.
But she has also completed work on Welcome to Me, Nasty Baby and The Diary of a Teenage Girl.
Wiig is currently is currently lending her voice to another animation project, Sausage Party, alongside Jonah Hill and James Franco.
