The first poster for Kill The Messenger has been revealed by Focus Features.
Kill The Messenger will see Jeremy Renner take on the real life reporter Gary Webb: a reporter for The San Jose Mercury News.
The movie is based on the books Kill The Messenger by Nick Schou and Dark Alliance by Webb, and has been adapted for the big screen by Peter Landesman.
Michael Cuesta is back in the director's chair for his first feature film since Roadie back in 2012.
Renner is joined on the cast list by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Paz Vega, Michael Sheen, Robert Patrick, Andy Garcia, and Barry Pepper.
The movie follows Webb as he stumbles onto a story which leads to the shady origins of the men who started the crack epidemic on the nation’s streets... and further alleges that the CIA was aware of major dealers who were smuggling cocaine into the U.S., and using the profits to arm rebels fighting in Nicaragua.
Despite warnings from drug kingpins and CIA operatives to stop his investigation, Webb keeps digging to uncover a conspiracy with explosive implications.
His journey takes him from the prisons of California to the villages of Nicaragua to the highest corridors of power in Washington, D.C. - and draws the kind of attention that threatens not just his career, but his family and his life.
Kill The Messenger and the central performance from Renner is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender... watch this space.
Kill The Messenger is released 28th November.
