Kevin Macdonald has called his new film Black Sea as 'The Fully Monty on a submarine.'
Macdonald is back in the director's chair this autumn for the new adventure/thriller.
The director has brought together a terrific cast as Jude Law, Scott McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, and Jodie Whittaker are all on board.
Speaking to Empire, the director said: "The Full Monty on a submarine - the set up is ripe with dramatic possibilities: male ego, rampant greed, international conflicts all intensified by taking place in a metal tin at the bottom of the ocean.
"There are certain things that have to happen in a submarine film. Water has to get in. You have to have the captain go a bit mad.
"The root of why submarine films are so attractive is that you are under the sea where human beings are not meant to be, and living in an artificial environment which make them vulnerable.
"You are waiting for something to go wrong. That's the inherent tension."
Black Sea is the first directorial outing for Macdonald since his documentary Christmas In A Day at the end of last year.
Black Sea is released 5th December.
