'Ghostbusters' director Kevin Feige claims the cast of the new reboot is comprised of the funniest people he knows.
The female-led sci-fi movie features the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, and Kevin has revealed he wrote the eagerly-awaited movie before he knew who would star in the project.
He said: "Then it was about two months of me going 'Okay, who are the perfect people for this?'
"I was like, I've just got to get four very distinct personalities for this, and I know so many funny people, and especially funny women."
Kevin explained that he was looking for the funniest people he could think of during the casting process - all of whom happened to be women.
He told Variety: "I just wanted the funniest people, and the funniest people I know are these women."
This comes shortly after Judd Apatow said only "nerds" disagree with the all female line-up of 'Ghostbusters'.
Speaking about how comedy is bringing women into the foreground, the filmmaker said: "Take the female 'Ghostbusters' I hear about, that I think (Paul) Feig is making with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Lesley Jones and Kate McKinnon. That sounds awesome, but other people are less happy.
"Then again, I think sometimes the people complaining are 28 nerds in their parents' basements. Most people are thrilled they're going to make the movie and so they should be.
"Movies need both men and women and it should all equal out."
