Kevin Feige says that, for the first time, the new Spider-Man will be set in a world where he is not the only hero.
Last week it was announced that Tom Holland is going to take over the role of Peter Parker as Spider-Man returns to the Marvel fold for the first time.
Marvel are going to depict Spider-Man has much younger than he has ever been before in what will be a third incantation in just over a decade.
Speaking to Zap2it, Feige said:"The biggest thing... is that it takes place in this universe. It's the first time that you'll be able to see Spider-Man like he was in the comics, as a very different type of hero when compared to the other heroes in the universe.
"Up until this point in the other Spidey films - some of which are some of the best superhero movies ever made - he was the only hero, and now he's not. Now he's a kid in Queens with these powers and has other [superheroes] to look to."
We are going to see Holland's version of Peter Parker for the first time next year, when he makes an appearance in Captain America: Civil War. The young actor will be on a cast list that includes Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Elizabeth Olsen.
However, Spider-Man is not the only new character that we are going to be introduced to as we will see Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther for the first time.
A solo Spider-Man movie is set to follow in the summer of 2017. It has been rumoured that we may see Robert Downey Jr make an appearance in that solo film.
The future for Spider-Man now looks set to be an exciting one and it looks almost a certainty that he will be joining the Avengers ranks as we head towards the Infinity War movies.
Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April. The new Spider-Man film is set to hit the big screen in the U.S. on 28th July.
