Kellan Lutz has revealed that he turned down the chance to play Edward Cullen because he was too ‘moody’.
Lutz broke through with the role of Emmett Cullen in the Twilight Saga movies, but was originally approached to play Edward; a role that eventually went to Robert Pattinson. And while Lutz was not a fan of Edward, he says that he really loved the character of Emmett
Speaking to Access Hollywood Live the actor said: "The role [Edward Cullen] just didn't… I just didn't care to entertain it. I really wanted to play a happy role or no role for a little bit."
"I didn't care to audition for [the role of Edward] because he was a bit moody and emotionally challenged. But then I loved Emmett… I'm so blessed to have been able to play him."
Lutz played Emmett in all five Twilight movies - all of which enjoyed huge success. The franchise came to a close with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 last year.
Lutz will be returning to the big screen in 2014 with Hercules: The Legend Begins: a movie that will see him take on the title role.
He has also finished working on The Expendables 3 and has lent his voice to Guardians of Luna. Lutz is just one of the new faces on board The Expendables 3, as Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes and Mel Gibson are also on board.
