Kellan Lutz has revealed that he missed out on the chance to play both Thor and Captain America.
Lutz will be back on the big screen later this year as he takes on the title role in The Legend of Hercules - a role he has always wanted to play.
However, the actor reveals that he got close to landing a couple of other big roles.
Speaking to Collider he said: "In our industry, you're told no a million times before that yes, and I've been positioning myself.
"As a young boy, I always had the dream of being Hercules. He's the epic hero. He's the original hero. For me, as I became an actor, that childhood dream could come to life.
"I went out for Thor, and Chris Hemsworth got it, but he is Thor. I got pretty close for Captain America, but Chris Evans got it, and he deserves it. He is Captain America.
"I'm happy for them. I don't get competitive. I do my best. If I get something, then it was meant to be. If I don't, then it wasn't."
Lutz is also set to be one of the new faces to watch out for in The Expendables 3.
The likes of Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Arnold Schwarzenegger are all returning, but a whole host of new actors are on board.
Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford will be joining Lutz as the new boys in the action franchise.
