Keira Knightley thinks it would be "lovely" to win an Academy Award for 'Colette'.

The 33-year-old actress portrays real-life French novelist Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948, in the biographical-drama movie and she is proud it has generated so much Oscar buzz because that means people have responded to the film in a "great way".
Speaking to TalkRADIO at the UK Premiere of 'Colette' at the BFI London Film Festival at Cineworld in London's Leicester Square, she said: "It's lovely, the buzz, I mean whether it happens... I mean hey that would be lovely wouldn't it? But I think that anytime Oscars get mentioned for a film I think what you know is that the film worked. And that people are really responding to it in a great way and that's why you make films that's the whole purpose of it so that's great."
The 'Pride & Prejudice' star channelled her writer alter ego by reading Colette's works - which include 1944 novella 'Gigi' - and she feels "super lucky" to have been able to "see the world through her voice".
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she said: "What's wonderful about playing a writer is that you can literally read her books and see the world through her voice. So I think I was super lucky about being able to delve into Collette's work and I knew like little bits of it and I knew Cheri but I never read the Claudine novels. And Vagabond which is the first one she wrote under her name and it was just delicious it was a joy to research. I just found it very empowering that I stood tall when I played her you know I think that she was a woman that lived without shame. She lived without shame in her sexuality and she lived without shame in her voice and I think still you know women in our culture are asked to hide their truths. They're asked to hide their experience and I think playing someone who didn't do that who refused to do that is amazing."
