Kaya Scodelario has described her character in The Maze Runner as a 'real mystery'.
Scodelario is set to appear in the adaptation of the young adult novel later this year, and says she was drawn to the role because of the long journey that we see the character go on.
Speaking to Collider she said: "She’s a real mystery in the first film. It’s only in the second and third books that you learn the reason why she’s been put there, what her mission is, and what her story is.
"I thought it would be really cool to play something that spanned that long, and that was that much of a journey, and that was not an easy character to work out, straight away."
The Maze Runner is based on the novel of the same name by James Dashner, and will be directed by Wes Ball.
The movie sees Scodelario star alongside Will Poulter, Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Patricia Clarkson.
The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows a community of boys trapped in a maze... a maze that they are determined to escape from.
The Maze Runner is just one of the young adult novel movies that will be hitting the big screen this year as Vampire Academy and Divergent also set to be released.
The Maze Runner is released 24th October.
