Kate Bosworth says she purposefully got very little sleep as she prepared for new film Homefront.
Bosworth will be back on the big screen at the beginning of next month as she teams up with Jason Statham for Homefront.
The film will see her take on the role of meth addict Cassie Bodine, and she wanted to show the physical impact that was having.
Speaking to Collider the actress said: "I got very little sleep. The physicality was something that the role required. She's someone who's abusing herself every day and that starts to take a toll.
"Clearly meth is a very destructive substance, and it shows physically very quickly, and it's a quick demise. It was just a conversation about how rough we wanted her to look.
"It wasn't something that I thought twice about. It was something that was required."
Gary Fleder is in the director's chair for the film, while Sylvester Stallone has adapted the Chuck Logan novel into a screenplay.
Bosworth and Statham are joined on the cast list by James Franco, Winona Ryder and Rachelle Lefevre.
Bosworth has also completed work on Unconscious with Wes Bentley.
Homefront is released 6th December.
