Karen Gillan says she has always had 'total faith' in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released this summer and is the second of two Marvel movies this year.
And while the movie has brought together a terrific cast, there are some who believe this film to be a risk for the studio.
Speaking to MTV News, the actress said: "I always had total faith in the project, because the people who are making it are so brilliant, and have a long history of great films. So I knew it was in great hands."
"I just think it's a new direction for Marvel, it's really, really funny.
"It's not taking itself seriously at all. It's tongue in cheek. And just to see people be excited about that new tone is cool."
Gillan is set to take on the role of baddie Nebula, in what is the biggest role in her film career so far.
She is joined on the cast list by Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro and Glenn Close, while James Gunn is in the director's chair.
Guardians of the Galaxy is released 1st August.
