Justin Lin has been named as the director for the sequel to The Bourne Legacy.
Jeremy Renner is set to return to the role of Aaron Cross in the film and work with director Lin for the first time.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lin will join the project with returning producers Frank Marshall, Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith.
Lin is no stranger to the blockbuster franchise having enjoyed huge success with Fast & Furious 5 & 6 in recent years; they are the two biggest instalments in the popular series.
Fast & Furious 6 hit the big screen earlier this year and is one of the highest grossing movies of 2013 so far: it has grossed over $788 million worldwide.
The sixth instalment was the last Fast & Furious movie for Lin, and James Wan is in the director’s char for the seventh film.
The Bourne Legacy hit the big screen in 2012 and was the first Bourne movie not to feature Matt Damon as the title character.
Whether we will see Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton, return to their roles has not yet been announced. However,
earlier this year, Universal hired 'Sherlock Holmes' scribe Anthony Peckham to write a script for the new 'Bourne' film.
