Dwayne Johnson promises that the Jumanji remake will 'honour' Robin Williams and the character of Alan Parris.
Johnson is set to star in the upcoming remake of the 1995 film, which saw Williams in the lead role and Joe Johnston in the director's chair.
There has been many who have voiced their displeasure at the remake of the film - being that it is so soon after the actor's death - but Johnson reassures fans that he has a lot of love and respect for Williams and recalls when they first met.
In an Instagram post, Johnson wrote: "An important thing that I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of 'Alan Parrish' will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of Jumanji in an earnest and cool way. I have an idea of what to do and I think his family will be proud.
"I also think Robin is somewhere lookin' down and laughing, remembering the first time we met backstage and I (for the first time ever) was a star struck bumbling idiot that couldn't even get my words out. Idiot. He literally calmed me down w/ that smile and laugh. But that's for another fun story down the road."
Jumanji will see Jake Kasdan in the director's chair for what will be his first feature film since Sex Tape back in 2014.
Funnyman Kevin Hart has also been linked to a role in the film, which would see him reunite with Johnson for their second film project together. The duo will star in Central Intelligence later this year.
Johnson is a very busy man with roles in Fast 8, Baywatch, and animation film Moana. He is also set to star in a second San Andreas movie and take on the role of Black Adam in Shazam!
Jumanji will hit the big screen in summer 2017.
